The TAL Bassline 101 is a faithful re-creation of the Roland machine, which includes all the original features with the addition of complete MIDI control and sync, expanded sequencer, Filter FM and polyphonic mode. It is simple in design - with only one oscillator and envelope - but combined with a fast LFO, Pulse Width Modulation, self resonant filter and simple sequencer it is more than capable of creating a wide spectrum of tones (albeit monophonic). It was used heavily during the inception of House and Techno and to this day is a sort after synth for dance music production. Since the mid 1980's the unique tone of the Roland SH-101 has made its way onto thousands of electronic music recordings.
